“It is evident that the action of the Region has so far been bankrupt as regards the containment of the wildlife. Although we had sent on time, on 13 September, the specific and timely observations to the regional proposal regarding the Guidelines for hunting management and containment of wild boar of Piedmont region, we have not received any sign of openness to a confrontation to concretely kick off a new season with useful measures to heal a situation that is ever closer to collapse ”. This is what Roberto Moncalvo, president of Coldiretti Piedmont and Bruno Rivarossa Confederal Delegate in sending again a letter to the Region containing some specific points on which attention must be paid with priority.
“Already in the last 8 July, on the occasion of the event that we organized in Piazza Castello, in Turin, we had presented clear and precise proposals aimed at guaranteeing the continuity of the production activity - Moncalvo and Rivarossa continue - and we believe that the same are still current and feasible to make in front of a situation that is now unsustainable. From the Region, however, the answers have never arrived so we hope that now he finally wants to play this game and we can, in this way, really open a constructive confrontation".
At national level, in the Budget Law 2022, a budget of 500 thousand euros was approved for the introduction, in Italy, of the immuno-contraceptive vaccine GonaCon. "Experimenting with sterilization has also been a topic that we have been dealing with for some time, but we have always talked about and proposed a form that could act through baits, as they are experiencing in other countries. It is clear that the funded formula is inapplicable because in this way the wild boar would have to be captured, vaccinated and then released again, instead of justly killed. A missed opportunity, however, to introduce the study of a more useful and realistic sterilization ”, they conclude moncalvo e Rivarossa.
