The 2010-2011 Hunting Calendar of the Lazio Region has been approved.
LAZIO REGION - August 18, 2010. Below is a note from the Arcicaccia (provincial federation of Frosinone). “After a long process, the hunting calendar of the Lazio Region for the 2010/2011 season. Debates, opinions of Ispra (ex Infs), informal meetings, everything has been put in place to ensure that Diana's followers can exercise their passion.
Satisfaction (so to speak) aside, however, some considerations must be made. Obviously for the part that most interests, or that in any case that most attracts attention, the hunting periods for the different species after the approval of the infamous art. 42 of the Community Law.
In fact, the most relevant news regarding the early closure of some species that arouse interest in Lazio hunters, song thrush, redwing and woodcock, are immediately apparent, but above all after the much publicized (by some associations) possibility that some species could be hunted until February 10, as in previous years the general closure is set for January 31.
No positive news, therefore, but even early closure to thrushes and woodcocks. Whom to ask for an account of all this? To the Region? To politicians who have not kept their promises made during the election campaign? Even if today it could be useful, it must be recognized that although not exempt, the political class is neither the only nor the main responsible. So who?
It is painful to have to admit that the greatest responsibilities are to be attributed to the hunting world. All the associations rode the emotional wave and with a populist approach they asked for the modification of the times established by Law 157 of 1992. They told us: “this will benefit all hunters”. Again: “After the now obsolete 157, guilty of having set unacceptable stakes, the future has finally begun”. All together on the chariot of change.
All but one. The Arcicaccia had feared the possibility that things could get worse. And he had done it in time, when it could still be remedied. He had predicted that by comparing disadvantages and advantages, the balance might not tip on the latter. This is because the only written technical documents, the now famous Key Concepts, on possible openings and closings for times and species, were already written. If the colleagues of the other hunting associations had paused, not even too long, on these documents, they would have noticed the dangers that a modification in this sense could cause. All this did not happen. On the contrary, they accused us once again of not serving the interests of hunters. That we were against these changes for political reasons only.
All this lasted until the definitive approval of art. 42. After the first grumbles began, the first distinctions. Later came the Ispra guidelines for the preparation of hunting calendars and the first rumors about them. The rest is history of our days. Today all the associations cry out to scandal and political betrayal.
All but one. The Arcicaccia, which has been affirming for some time that any changes you want to make should not be left to the political class, but must be written in full by the interested parties, hunters, farmers and environmentalists, and must be submitted to the policy only for final approval, without the same way adding anything (Toscana docet). In this context, once again, it must be observed that we are not satisfied with the affirmation: “We told you so” ”.
