Difficult life for Calabrian hunters. After Campania, the environmental associations target Calabria and threaten a new appeal to the Regional Administrative Court for the modification of the Hunting Calendar.
31 August 2011 - After the Stop to the pre-opening of the hunting season in Campania by the TAR of Naples in acceptance of the WWF appeal, another environmental association, the Lipu-BirdLife Italia proposes itself against the pre-opening in Calabria and in other Italian regions scheduled for tomorrow 1 September.
Even the LIPU bases its reasons on the fact that "the pre-opening of the hunt scheduled for September XNUMXst will hit species at a time when they have just finished nesting, thus putting the populations at risk".
In addition to fully supporting the ruling of the Campania Administrative Court, environmentalists think that "in Calabria the pre-opening will help poachers, especially those who shoot migratory hawks and quail".
They also declare that “in Calabria the Hunting Calendar approved by the Scopelliti Council still has elements of illegitimacy, such as the possibility of shooting the song thrush and the woodpecker until January 19 and the redwing thrush until January 30, 2012 (instead of until 10, as required by law) "; on the basis of these motivations, LIPU is evaluating the possibility of proposing a new appeal to the TAR in the wake of that proposed by the WWF not so much in the direction of blocking the pre-opening given that by now there would be no technical deadlines for the presentation but aimed at modifying the Hunting calendar in Calabria regarding the hunting periods for some species.
