In recent days, the World Climate Conference was held in Paris, over 200 heads of state and government and many world organizations gathered to discuss new strategies to reduce global warming. The question that arises spontaneously to many can be summarized as follows: are they playing God? I honestly don't know if they try to do God, if global warming is a process independent of our will or our actions. Obviously a large part of science is certain of the opposite, we know it well. However, the history of the earth has taught us that when man still did not burn oil and did not release harmful gases into the atmosphere, there were enormous climatic upheavals, both due to overheating and cooling. But like everyone of course I hope that the solutions they are studying are the right ones. In the meantime, let's just make a reflection from our point of observation, which is true is not scientific, but is still privileged since we go to the countryside every day.
In recent years we have witnessed a rapid change in the habits of animals: wood pigeons nest more and more in our country and shoot themselves in the field in September, just to give an example. Migration is increasingly an inexplicable mystery. This year in November I shot some beautiful quail, while woodcocks have been seen few and patchy. Thrushes with a dropper, like the wood pigeons themselves, of course, those of passage, that according to the reports of the passionate and specialized hunters "they all passed in one day". The Cesene, as we know, are waiting for the cold and at least for now neither one nor the other has shown up. In short, even we simple hunters who live their passion in close contact with nature can only note that climate change is there and it is also evident. While everything is moving, however, there is something immutable: politics and especially hunting. In our country the calendars are nailed to purely political criteria and do not take into account the dynamics of the species, both positively and negatively as regards the sampling periods. It would be more right to have a certain degree of flexibility in relation to the season, the climate, the specific circumstances. Hunting is always seen as an almost disturbing factor, a kind of necessary evil. Without understanding that modern hunting and hunters are fundamental elements for the balance of species and biodiversity. Our hunting associations unfortunately waste too much time and too many resources arguing with each other, fighting for an extra card. At a certain point it seemed that we were talking about unity, national coordination, a common strategy and obviously of greater strength, but to this day, besides the fine words, we record a stalemate.
The festive period, however, forces us to be optimistic, Christmas is now upon us and 2016 is almost here. So citing the great Lucio Dalla we must hope that the coming year will bring a transformation and we are all already waiting ... Under the Christmas tree we will find some more woodcock, the thrush's zirlo will brighten our dawns, and our politicians all dressed as Santa Claus they will bring us baskets full of porcini mushrooms, wood pigeons and ducks.
The year that is coming in a year will pass…. we are preparing this is the news. Good luck to all and a sincere Merry Christmas and a 2016 full of everything you want.
