Sergio Berlato, Chairman of the Third Permanent Commission of the Veneto Regional Council, presented a bill for manage all wildlife. The aim of the text is to regulate a much more complex and articulated framework as regards the fauna and environmental heritage, as well as fish and livestock. In this context, wildlife-hunting planning is only one of the various management tools, but the territory must be monitored continuously according to Berlato, aiming at a balanced coexistence between the various species.
The project entrusts the Veneto Region with the elaboration of the program for wildlife, environmental and productive management: it will have a duration of five years and will include studies, data collection and containment of wild animals to avoid damage to the various productions. The program would be reviewed every five years.
Very interesting is article 3 of this PDL, the one dedicated to wildlife control and containment plans. These activities are the responsibility of the provinces and metropolitan cities, with selective methodologies. Finally, as regards the containment of wild animals in the reserves and in the regional natural parks, supervision by the managing body must be respected.
