Il Animalist Party got one 0,6% which is not rejected by its own representatives after the European elections which have just ended. La Repubblica has decided to interview Stefano Fucelli, leader of the European Animalist Party and candidate in central Italy in this latest electoral round. One of the most interesting questions is the one concerning the comparison with the Animalist Movement of Michele Vittoria Brambilla.
Here is Fuccelli's answer: “The founder of the party of which Brambilla is president is Silvio Berlusconi, a shareholder of Molmed, a biotech company that practices animal experimentation and leader of a party, of which Brambilla herself is an exponent, which by her very nature she promotes the interests of that industry unfavorable to environmental and animal welfare causes. Let us not forget that the entire bloc of Berlusconi MEPs signed, in 2010, Directive 63/10 defined as pro-vivisection.
In any case, having enjoyed exceptional media exposure, the Animalist Movement should have made its debut in the last national political elections, and Brambilla ultimately decided not to present it again since the polls gave it to the 0,6% together with two other lists considered more significant ".
