From Siberia the icy wind called Buran arrives in Europe and from us in Italy and one wonders from the ornithological observatories where the Cesene ended up.
Rare in the last thirty years. Record-breaking, as documented by the exceptional temperatures that have remained in history. This is the “buran”, an icy steppe wind, a mass of air coming from Siberia accompanied by very fine snow that can also obscure the view.
Driven by the equally rare Russian anticyclone, it arrived in Italy, with consequences that the past can already tell. Like the great cold of 1956. Or more recently, but with less freezing temperatures, the extraordinary snowfall of 1985. The Russian-Siberian anticyclone has already left traces in its run towards Italy.
In Russia, precisely in Karelia, the thermometer touched -37 ° C and the city of Archangel also dropped below -30 degrees for the first time. From these areas the great frost arrived with temperatures that recorded negative peaks in Poland, Romania and Turkey.
In this meteorological context Le Cesene - ask the men of the FEIN Ornithological Observatory who are closely following every event of this winter, which has suddenly become very cold - where have they gone? And so many shed owners who, against all hope, continued to frequent the shed until the end of January?
On this side of the Alps they have not been seen, much less in the south of France. And so in the central-southern part of our peninsula. In Greece the same. It is a fascinating mystery that it would be nice to be able to solve in order to get to know this mythical “great turdide” better!
Speaking of these great frosts, we still ask ourselves what sense it makes to want to place the pre-nuptial migration of Song Thrush and Redwing Thrush in this period of mid-January on the other hand, some regional administrations, just to satisfy the requests of petulant environmentalists, have deliberated by closing in advance the hunt for these species through their hunting calendars!
Fortunately, consistent doubts begin to circulate about certain dogmas (which we have been questioning for a long time), so much so that the Constitutional Court with a recent ruling (n.16 / 2012) considered unfounded the request for unconstitutionality regarding the regional legislation of Sardinia, where the Regional Observatory was established or, pending it, a special Committee Scientific Technician for each study and research, as well as consultancy to the Region, exactly on the subjects considered up to now the exclusive prerogative of ISPRA.
Here, therefore, that any excessive power could be diluted so much that this absurd exclusivity would no longer be "constitutionally" valid delegated to a scientific body that perhaps cannot represent the territorial realities of an Italy so long and so different in terms of meridians, environments, traditions and culture.
