Waterfowl are the species that have the most developed sense of sight and for this we describe the method of construction of the shed.
For waterfowl hunting it is necessary to prepare and build a good shed, in order to get a good camouflage in the day in a swamp.
Mimicry is essential in all forms of hunting, but it becomes even more essential when ducks and waders are identified, cunning birds with exceptional eyesight and which frequently move in more or less numerous flocks: it is sufficient that only one bird of the pack warns some danger to inevitably blow up the chance for the hunter to go sign.
Building an excellent shed is therefore like being equipped with an extra weapon.
The shed fulfills the function of hiding the hunter from the sight of waterfowl in the best possible way, to bring them as close as possible or, even better, to have them pose directly in the game.
In Italy, different methods are known for building huts, depending on the characteristics of the wetland in which they hunt but, above all, closely linked to local traditions.
The shed must be built in such a way that it is homogeneous and resembles the surrounding vegetation, with the rear higher in such a way as to hide the hunter's head that protrudes, it must not be too wide but at the same time suitable to be able to stay several hours . Certainly the most comfortable, durable and functional one is the masonry one, partially buried, camouflaged with climbing and evergreen plants, at the foot of which are placed the cages with the live calls of various species of birds.
There are many variables that affect the preparation and construction of a stakeout, therefore, apart from the basic rules described above, the hunter is free to prepare the hut.
The types of huts for stalking for waterfowl hunting are: the coveggia made entirely of tall grass surrounded by water, the basket near the bank or the mouth of a river, the hiding place of reeds or herbs placed behind the barrel or tina, where the small boat is hidden in the stalking and hut, built in a very raised position.
With hunting from the hut it is strictly forbidden to use acoustic calls or blinded live calls.
