“Let's set up a time schedule as part of the regional coordination table aimed at implementing the operational plans of containment of wild boars and otters". This is the request made this morning by Cia-Italian Farmers Padua on the occasion of a specific meeting organized by the Region together with agricultural organizations and hunting associations. "In this particular historical moment - underlined the director of Cia Padova, Maurice Antonini, who participated directly in the meeting - we are not always able to give concrete answers to this great criticality, namely the massive presence of wild boars and coypu in our territory: the situation is out of control ”.
This is why, added the director himself, “we strongly support the launch of this initiative, provided that precise timing is given with respect to the containment of the specimens ". And there is a further question to consider: "Institutions are called to divide the tasks in a precise and timely manner, so that there are no overlaps. It must be clear who does what. In this sense, the only objective is represented by the containment of ungulates and otters, for the good of the world of agriculture and civil society ”. Alone 10% of the damage in agriculture is then reimbursedAntonini also recalled: “The issue of business profitability also arises.
The ungulates, with their passage alone, sweep away hectares of crops, both in the area of the Euganean Hills and in the plains, especially in the Montagnanese". Moreover, they are always in search of food and water; while the otters dig their burrows in the embankments, eventually destroying them. “This is another danger for farmers, which passing by tractors, they risk collapsing the underlying land, with consequent overturning of the vehicles themselves ". “Well the technical table - concluded the director -. Let's put it into practice, without hesitation on the part of the competent authorities ”.
