Il wolf theme arrives on the prefect's table Vicenza, Pietro Signoriello. The Prefecture, made aware by Coldiretti Vicenza and by some mayors of the territory, has thus convened for today the Provincial Committee for public order and safety. On the occasion of the important session of the Cposp in the Prefecture in Vicenza, Coldiretti handed over the document to the prefect Signoriello "The management of the spread of the wolf for the protection of mountain agricultural activities", recently drawn up, in the presence of the commissioner, the regional councilor for agriculture Giuseppe Pan and the provincial representatives of the Carabinieri, the Finance Police and the Forestry Carabinieri, the president of the Province of Vicenza, the mayors of the plateau, the president of the'Mountain Union Respected regency of the Seven Municipalities, as well as representatives of the Veneto Region, Ispra, Arpav and Ulss7 Pedemontana.
Coldiretti's report, elaborated at the regional level and presented to all prefects, is clear: it is necessary to continue the monitoring of the effective distribution of the wolfby merging information into a single regional database; it is necessary to cover 100% the costs incurred by breeders for the implementation of prevention systems and to contribute to the implementation of other systems aimed at greater protection of grazing livestock, guaranteeing training and technical assistance services to livestock farms for the realization of such measures.
"A series of rapid and urgent interventions must be implemented - explains during the meeting the provincial president of Coldiretti Vicenza, Martino Cerantola - and it is necessary to take action at national level for the immediate implementation of the National Plan which includes, in a scaled-up logic, all the necessary measures up to foresee the use of the derogation which provides, by order of the appointed administrations, after identifying the qualified parties, the numerical control of the species ". The prefect Signoriello demonstrated great availability and attention on the subject and, at the request of Coldiretti, confirmed that he will take an active part in transmitting the document drawn up to the ministers of the Environment Costa, of Agriculture Centinaio and of the Interior Salvini.
“The problem connected with the diffusion of packs of wolves it is quite evident. In the early years - adds the director of Coldiretti Vicenza, Cesare Magalini - the presence of large carnivores was thought of as a fact, if we can say so, of an episodic nature. In reality, in particular for the wolf, the territoriality of the appropriations that now affect the whole arc of the lower Alps, means that we cannot ignore the activation of policies to safeguard economic activity, in particular of the mountain hut ”. In this latter respect, the heritage of the Alpine huts in Veneto is considerable and is capable of producing high quality dairy products. One of all the Asiago, as well as representing an essential element for the biodiversity in mountain areas.
It should be remembered that most of the huts are public, therefore proper management implies the partnership between farmers and administrations, even in dealing with the emergency. President Cerantola, in the prefecture of Vicenza with the section and area presidents at his side Coldiretti dell'Altopiano, concludes: "The activation of the waiver is a necessary solution. It is necessary to commit to the levels of competence, without any delay, towards the Government, in order to approve and implement the Wolf Management Plan, which also provides for the possibility of containing the Alpine population ". And the director Magalini comments: “If you want take the problem seriously, it is necessary to build on the experience already lived throughout Europe with the management and containment plans ".
