Foggia: The first course for selecontroller hunters starts in February
The training course for 'selecontroller hunters' organized by the Department of Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing of the province of Foggia will start on February 5th and will end on Friday February 26th. This is the first course organized by the Administration of Palazzo Dogana, in application of the Regional Law 27 of 1998 with which the controls of wildlife were entrusted to the Provinces, also by means of killing.
The organization of the course was necessary to 'enable' qualitatively adequate personnel in relation to the faunal, environmental and prophylaxis aspects that the 'selecontroller' activity covers.
The course will be divided into two modules, for a total of seven lessons focused on the knowledge of the fauna of Capitanata and on the protection of the provincial ecosystem. At the end of the cycle of lessons a specific certificate of suitability will be issued to the participants.
The course saw the collaboration of Urca Puglia (Regional Union of Apennine Hunters). The hunters residing in the Province of Foggia and in the neighboring Provinces will participate in the training activities; the staff of the State Forestry Corps, the Gargano National Park, the Environmental Protection Corps, the Municipal Guards, the Provincial Guards.
- “Protecting and safeguarding our immense fauna heritage - comments the provincial councilor for agricultural policies, Savino Santarella - means making a significant contribution to preserving the integrity of the Capitanata ecosystem. It is evident, from this point of view, that only through a detailed and analytical knowledge of the environmental condition of the territory and of the specimens present is it possible to adequately enhance and enhance this extraordinary resource of our province ".
The fauna control activity by the Province is also organized at the request of organizations or companies, as is already the case with the Gargano National Park, for the monitoring of the Italian roe deer and for the controlled killing of wild boars.
