The City of Lecce nei Marsi (province of L'Aquila) has decided to entrust what can be defined to hunters the adoption of deer in the Abruzzo National Park. This is the hunting association "Nunzio Maddalena" which will have to take care of the nourishment of the ungulates found in thewildlife area, as well as protection from poachers. The hunters involved are 18 and their commitment demonstrates how useful and important hunting is for the environment.
Same deer, bears and wolves they will be kept at a distance from the inhabited center by transporting fruit and fodder to the mountains. As pointed out by the association, the assignment demonstrates how the hunter is a lover of nature and his interest is to protect her. The distinction between those who practice regular activity and poaching is in this case very clear and the hope is that the example can be followed in other parts of Italy.
The association then recalled how the killing of a wolf or a deer immediately makes hunters speak ill, without any distinction. To counter poaching, the focus will be on awareness and persuasion, but not only. In Lecce in the Marsi, the collaboration between the hunting world and nature has gone as best one could not imagine, in recent years the signs were many and now this special "adoption" is added.
