Legambiente, WWF e Italian Bird Protection League (LIPU) have filed an appeal to Regional Administrative Court of Sicily against 2017-2018 hunting calendar of the island. The animal welfare and environmental associations have expressly asked for the revocation and suspension of the document, which however has not convinced even the local hunting world.
According to these acronyms, there is a lack of respect for the national law and the opinions of the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research. It is not the first provision in this sense, given that a short time ago there was a warning to obtain a uniform calendar for the opinion of ISPRA itself, mandatory but not binding. Legambiente Sicilia reminded him invitations addressed to the Government and to the presidents of various regions following fires and droughts, factors used as a pretext to ask for the opening of the hunting season to be postponed to the date of 1 ° October.
One of the main discussions related to the Sicilian calendar refers to the ban imposed on extra-regional hunters, who do not have the opportunity to carry on business on the island in the pre-opening period. Among other things, the ban was extended at the turn of the months of October, November and December.
