A Gardone Val Trompia (province of Brescia), the historic headquarters of Beretta, the official presentation of the new school year of TIMA course. We are talking about the educational path to become Weapon Mechanic Industry Technician, precisely in the year in which the agreement between the “Carlo Beretta” Institute of Higher Education and public and private bodies was renewed. The path includes two school choices, the one that lasts three years and the one that lasts five.
The lessons have been designed for future technicians and take place in the shed of the Gardonese institute. The goals have become more and more ambitious, as pointed out by the head teacher Stefano Retali. The public and private entities referred to earlier are Beretta itself, CONARM ME (the consortium of gunsmiths), the Province of Brescia, the ANPAM and others. The growth of the course is testified by the numbers, given that the only students enrolled in the first year are well 69 (155 if all classes are considered).
There are practical and theoretical lessons with a lot of technological and ballistics laboratories and insights into the classification of weapons. All this is completed by various outings in local companies, in addition to participation in sector fairs. The conclusion of the TIMA is entrusted to an oral and a practical exam to obtain the final certification.
