Following the investigations carried out by the agents of the Provincial Police of Grosseto on the recommendation of the Lac volunteer guards unit, two hunters were reported to the judicial authority (hunting chief and deputy hunting chief of a boar team) for the violation of law 221/2015 which provides for the absolute prohibition of wild boar foraging throughout the national territory. The animals were illegally and periodically fed melons, stale bread and other baked goods in an area assigned to a specific wild boar hunting team.
This offense provides for the sanction of arrest from 2 to 6 months o the fine from € 516 to € 2064, with the ancillary sanction of the suspension of hunting activities for one month. The foraging of wild boars is a prohibited practice, which is carried out by the teams to the wild boar to keep the animals in the assigned hunting area. These foraging techniques have in fact favored the proliferation of the species, contributing to increase its numerical consistency with a consequent increase in damage to agriculture and a significant increase in road accidents (The nation).
