In these days the Province of Bergamo is preparing a new Wildlife Hunting Plan with which “the Hunting Activity is safeguarded”.
After several years the Province of Bergamo is again preparing a Wildlife Hunting Plan considering that the previous Plans have been canceled by the TAR on the basis of WWF appeals. The new Plan adapts to the judgments of the Administrative Court without further penalizing hunting. The Plan, drawn up by the technicians of the Hunting and Fishing service, was formally presented in the Council meeting on Monday 7 January before being sent to the Region for the approval of the impact assessment on the Natura 2000 Network sites. examination room at the headquarters of the Province in via Fratelli Calvi, the presentation of the Plan to the presidents of the provincial hunting associations, the presidents of the ATC and of the Alpine districts.
How hunting changes
The new Plan does not envisage major transformations for the plain and the four traditional Alpine districts (Valle di Scalve, Borlezza, Valle Seriana and Valle Brembana), there will be an extension of the Pianura hunting territorial area and a more extensive Alps area.
The current Prealpine area will become the Alps area
With the new Plan, a large part of the Prealpine area will be transformed into the Alps area of approximately 67.000 hectares of which 8.000 will be destined for the protection of wildlife: approximately 12% of the territory in percentage terms. Much less than the hectares wanted by the WWF which would have brought the percentage of forbidden territory to about 24%. For those who, already in 2012, went hunting in the Prealpine, from 2013 nothing will change, that is there will be no need to take the interview of suitability for roaming hunting.
The Oasis of Valpredina
With the new Plan, the Valpredina Protection Oasis will remain at its current surface (203 hectares of Tasp), despite the fact that the WWF continues to ask for this to be tripled with the consequent revocation of 27 fixed postings.
The huts
With the new Plan, less than 60 fixed hunting posts (huts) will be revoked, very few if compared to the 192 that would have been revoked if the Province of Bergamo had accepted the requests of the WWF.
The other news
The innovations introduced by the new Plan concern only the territories currently included in the Pre-Alpine Atc. The major changes will be the reduction of the hunting calendar to December 31st instead of January 31st, or the reduction of the two-shot weapon.
