Hunting Accident: Catanzaro, a mushroom hunter was killed by the shot fired by a hunter during a wild boar hunt.
Yesterday in Soveria Mannelli, in the province of Catanzaro, a mushroom hunter died in a hunting accident due to injuries inflicted on him by a shot mistakenly fired by a hunter who had mistaken him for a wild boar.
The victim of the accident is the sixty year old Vincenzo Pulicicchio, who yesterday morning went to the bush of Soveria Mannelli (CZ) to collect mushrooms; from a first reconstruction of the incident it seems that the hunter was engaged in a wild boar hunt when he felt movement in a bush and, believing it was a wild boar, he exploded a shot, mortally wounding the mushroom hunter. The Carabinieri of Lamezia Terme investigate the story, with fairly clear connotations, who have reported the hunter for manslaughter.
The hunting incident immediately gave rise to anti-hunting associations to rise up against the hunting activity in Italy denouncing, “National shame, a country hostage to an armed lobby”. The president of the Victims of Hunting Association, Daniela Casprini, commenting on the issue, said “as long as hunters are interested in having many wild boars, the problem is certainly not solved. Let's turn off the taps that feed the hunt and the problems will be solved ”.
