Hunt: Editorial. Everything comes alive .. The hunting season is upon us ..
Now here we are, the countdown has started, there are still a few days to go until the fateful date of opening of the hunting season 2014/2015. Everything comes alive, we hunters begin the meticulous checking of equipment, clothing, counting cartridges, and every time we ask ourselves the usual fateful question, will I have everything? It's the dog? my greatest friend / ally who accompanies me and, for better or for worse, gladdens my every outing, will I have trained him enough or maybe I could have dedicated a little more time to him? Will he be ready to face this new season in the best possible way? ... Of course, if the law had allowed me to make it run without too many restrictions, we would probably both have been much happier but, dura lex sed lex, and therefore I am convinced that I have done at least the minimum wage, but promising myself to increase the pace when it is possible ... after all, I also need an extra stimulus to get some breath and legs! I am on average satisfied, my dog is trained, the equipment is controlled and efficient, the physical shape could be better, but it still allows me at least not to be fooled by friends, the hunting calendar is out, and by visiting the forums and specialized sites, punctually, as every year, I verify that the first signs of controversy are already beginning on any early openings, on the days, on ATCs, on huntable species, etc. It is a play that is repeated every new season, almost as if in mid-August, a sleeping director wakes up from the laziness of the hot summer sun and puts on the same old script.
Oh well, I console myself because basically everything is normal, in line with the other years, where everything then becomes the opposite of everything, taking on a reassuring habit. Then I think back to the hot summer sun and, given that this year we can't really say that it has made us suffer and suffer, I tell myself, won't the weather be the one to do us some nice tricks?
And then, as if I were a NASA engineer in anticipation of the Shuttle launch, I begin to study the meteorological sites ... high pressure, low pressure, Azores anticyclone, hot front and cold front, sun, rain, wind, I look not only at the weather in Italy, but I also study that of other countries that are normally crossed by migratory routes ... then, suddenly, after having acquired scientific information that in principle will not be of much use to me, I stop, cross my dog's gaze sitting next to it, and I remember that those who govern hunting are not science and technology, but passion, living nature as it is proposed to us, in a simple and spontaneous way, respecting it and thanking it every time it gives us a day from hunting.
I look at my dog again and I think that, once again, it is precisely from him that I have to take an example: from the unconditional happiness that he manifests every time he sees me take the rifle, by the naturalness and spontaneity of his attitudes that are not influenced by the weather or by other external interference, and by the always loving, even if sometimes severe, look that he turns to me when I "fry" the wild that he has found me with effort and passion . And then I close everything and start dreaming about what my next hunting season will be like, promising myself to make it as simple, spontaneous and natural as possible, and to enjoy every single moment, sunny or rainy, with joy and naturalness, just like the my faithful four-legged friend!
