The hunting and fishing office of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano publishes the dates and methods of participation for the next selections to obtain the qualification for hunting.
The shooting exams will be held in San Lorenzo on 3 and 4 May 2012 while the theory exams will be held in Merano-Maia Alta from 8 to 11 May 2012 as well as on 15 and 16 May 2012.
Applications for admission with stamp duty can be submitted to the Hunting and Fishing Office of the Province until 31 March 2012, while the registration form can be found at the same Office or on the Province's website.
Candidates who have to take the shooting test must attach - under penalty of ineligibility to the exam - a medical certificate with stamp duty as prescribed for the license to carry a shotgun for hunting use and indicate at which shooting range to take the exam; the medical certificate for the hunting exam is valid for 6 months. To access the practical test, candidates will have to pass a short oral exam on the functioning of weapons and safety regulations.
Furthermore, based on the amendment of the Law of 8 July 1998, no. 230, (Art. 15, paragraph 7-ter) on conscientious objection, objectors placed on leave for five years may be admitted to the hunting examination after renouncing the "status of objector" by means of an irrevocable declaration to be forwarded to the Office National for the Civil Service in Rome (form available on the Internet). A copy of the acceptance communication from the Rome Office must be attached to the application for admission to the exam.
Only people who have reached the age of 18 can be admitted to the hunting exam. The candidate can return to the practical test at each session, up to passing that part of the exam, which will no longer lose its validity. The exam consists, as up to now, of two shooting tests and an oral exam on: wildlife, hunting legislation, hunting weapons and nature protection, dog lovers and hunting traditions.
Those who have already passed an equivalent hunting exam outside the province, in order to obtain the certificate of qualification for hunting, must take a supplementary exam on the law in force in South Tyrol as well as on the species of wildlife subjected to the planning of killing (ungulates, except wild boar, grouse and rock partridge). In this case, a certified copy of the qualification obtained outside the province must be attached to the application for admission to the exam.
Candidates will be informed in writing of the date and time of the hunting exam; for further information it is advisable to consult the website of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano or to contact the Provincial Hunting and Fishing Office.
