2012-2013 Hunting Calendar: the Marche Regional Council has approved the new hunting calendar among the novelties a new regulation for the management of ungulates.
The Regional Council of the Marche, on the proposal of the councilor for hunting, Paolo Eusebi, approved the Hunting Calendar for the 2012-2013 Hunting Season which will start, in pre-opening, as early as 1 September 2012 and end on 31 January 2013.
The commissioner Eusebi thus commented on the new hunting document, “The hunting activity conducted with prudence, respecting the rules, also finds precise discipline in the approved calendar for the 2012/2013 season. This takes into account the different needs represented by the categories concerned and combines the requests for environmental wildlife protection with a balanced and responsible hunting exercise by the hunters ”.
Continuing the commissioner explained, "The calendar, submitted to the opinion of ISPRA, Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, confirms the necessary safeguards in the Special Protection Areas and in the Sites of Community importance of the Natura 2000 Network".
In addition, the councilor for hunting wanted to highlight the importance of applying a new Regional Regulation for the management and control of ungulates contained in the new Hunting Calendar, explaining that it is "An innovation for the whole of the Marche region that will allow a more correct, coherent and widespread hunting activity and which will introduce, among other things, further and never practiced forms of sampling, as well as the new hunting card which will allow the Region to respect the priorities indicated by the European Union and to collect information on catches of the different species ".
The real novelty of the new Hunting Calendar 2012-2013, relative to the periods established for the selection hunting of ungulates consists in the use of non-toxic ammunition. News also regarding hunting notwithstanding the transfer for which however a specific separate act will be adopted agreed on the basis of ministerial and community provisions.
As regards the individual huntable species, the periods contained in the new 2012-2013 Hunting Calendar are:
- Tortora: from 1st September to 31st October;
- Merlo: from September 16th to December 31st;
- Colombaccio: from 1st September to 27th January 2013;
- Jay, Magpie, Cornacchia Grigia, Teal, Mallard and Garganey: from 1 September to 27 January 2013;
- Hare, Wild Rabbit, Gray Partridge, Red Partridge Pheasant; from 16 September to 2 December;
- Quail: from September 16th to December 31st;
- Skylark: from 1st October to 31st December;
- Fox, Bottaccio Thrush, Cesena, Sassello Thrush, Coot, Gadwall, Codon, Wigeon, Shoveler, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Lapwing, Snipe, Moorhen, Water Rail, Whisk, Fighter: from 16 September to 31 January;
- Wild boar: Sunday 14 October and from 21 October to 20 January 2013 on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (except for the occasional form);
- Rock partridge: from 3 October to 21 November;
- Woodcock: from 4 October to 31 December and from 2 to 20 January 2013, with possible suspension of the withdrawal upon the occurrence of the following conditions: 1) maintenance of the average temperatures below the freezing point for more than four consecutive days; 2) continuous presence of snow cover above 300 meters above sea level for more than three days; 3) uniform presence of snow-covered ground above sea level beyond 48 hours.
With regard to the periods, times and methods of hunting, the game species listed above can be hunted:
- September: Saturday 1, Sunday 2, Wednesday 5, Sunday 16, Wednesday 19, Saturday 22, Sunday 23, Wednesday 26, Saturday 29, Sunday 30;
- from 1 October to 31 January 2013: three days at the hunter's choice, excluding Tuesdays and Fridays, it being understood that the collection of the species Hare, Pheasant, Gray Partridge, Rock Partridge, Boar and Wild Rabbit is allowed only on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sunday;
- from 1st October to 29th November: stalking of migratory game is allowed for another two days a week with the exclusion of Tuesdays and Fridays;
On the pre-opening days 1, 2 and 5 September, it is allowed to take the following species in the manner and at the times indicated below, without the aid of the dog: - Turtledove, Colombaccio, Cornacchia Grigia, Jay, Magpie, Teal, Mallard And Marzaiola: from 5.30 to 12,00 and from 17,00 to 19,30.
The exercise of the hunting activity is allowed by stalking with the obligation on the part of the hunter to reach the hunting site with the weapon unloaded and in custody.
On the aforementioned days, hunters in temporary posting mode, in addition to stopping behind the natural shelter, can make shelters only with artificial material. The occupation of the site and the installation of temporary stalking cannot be carried out before 12 hours from the hunting time.
