Venatori calendars 2012-2013: Liguria, the Region approves the new annual calendar valid for the forthcoming next hunting season.
The Ligurian Regional Council yesterday approved the new Hunting Calendar valid for the 2012-2013 hunting season which replaces the old three-year calendar deemed illegitimate by the Constitutional Court both because it has a three-year duration and because it has been adopted with a law instead of an act. administrative as expected.
In addition, the new hunting wildlife management document incorporates the prescriptions of ISPRA, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research in order to avoid new appeals to the TAR.
According to the new Ligurian Hunting Calendar, the hunting season opens in the third week of September, that is on day 16. As regards wild boar hunting, the calendar will be defined by each individual province.
It will be possible to practice hunting for three days a week at the hunter's choice. Two days a week are added for hunting from stalking to migratory wildlife in the period between 1 October and 30 November. For woodcock hunting it will be possible to choose two days per week from 1 October to 20 January.
The hunt for wood pigeon stalking is extended to the whole month of January, which in the previous calendar ended on December 31st. The specific maximum game bag for wood pigeons is not fixed.
The law, on the other hand, provides for measures that guarantee greater protection of live recalls and establishes that the Council, in the event of a suspension of the calendar, will issue a new calendar within 10 days. As foreseen by the law Amendments to the regional law 1 July 1994, number 29 (regional rules for the protection of homeothermic fauna and for hunting), if the calendar is the subject of a suspension measure, the Council has the right to launch another one in a very short time, within ten days of the suspension.
Some amendments have been approved, including one (first signatory Bruzzone) which requires "the supervisory bodies to mark the hunter's control in the appropriate space of the regional card".
Regarding the approval of the calendar, the councilor Nino Miceli explained, "The issues that required greater commitment in the commission were two: the return to five days of hunting migratory game from 1 October to 30 November and the closure of hunting thrush early January 31 to 20. This is to protect hunters, because there is the danger that otherwise the TAR could reject the calendar with consequent suspension of hunting for a medium-long period during the current season ”.
Continuing Miceli explains again, "A few days ago the TAR gave the green light to the calendar of the Emilia-Romagna Region with early closure on January 20, while other calendars with closure on January 31 are subject to appeals, the results of which should be known in the next months. In the event of favorable rulings, we reserve the right to bring the closure to January 31, a commitment that we formalized by approving an agenda to that effect at the same time ".
In addition, the councilor, regional leader of the PD, wanted to announce "a path between the department and hunting associations, aimed at demonstrating the state of health of some species through data on killing for decades, as requested by Ispra". In fact, Miceli continued explaining that "This will allow us, next year, to formulate and approve the calendar in time so that any appeals do not affect the hunting season".
Finally Miceli dwelt on the controversies in the Council for the continuous requests of a part of the opposition to lengthen the hunting period foreseen by the hunting calendar and to expand the list of huntable species; the councilor explained that these were "requests that in almost all it was not possible to accept as they would have exposed the provision to the rejection of the Tar with consequent suspension of hunting in the open season".
