From 24 to 26 November possimi the seventh edition of "Hunting & Country Fishing Expo", a show dedicated to fans of hunting, fishing and outdoor life. One of the most interesting and curious reasons to go to the Forlì exhibition center that hosts the event is undoubtedly the exhibition of copy of the rifle delivered to Pope Francis a month ago.
The weapon was donated to the Pope by the Cicognani Armory and bears this engraving: "Fair competition promotes knowledge of oneself and one's neighbor". The carbine was created after more than two months of work, while six more were needed for delivery to the Holy Father. The owner of this armory located in the locality of Poggio (Forlì-Cesena) went to Rome last October 25 and handed the rifle into the hands of Francesco right in St. Peter's Square.
The Pope's surprise was mixed with curiosity, despite the fact that he knew about this particular gift. The reason for the delivery is soon said: the owner of the armory explained that he wanted to underline how his rifles are sporting and not objects of destruction or an instrument of war. In the engraving there are San Francesco and an olive branch.
