Flavio Galizzi, vice president of Provincial Federcaccia of Bergamo, returned to talk about lead-free ammunition in hunting, especially after the discovery of a dead eagle in which there was a percentage of lead in the blood above the acceptable limits. The finger is often pointed at hunting, but the association recalled the studies and investments of the manufacturers of bullets to provide optimal and improved solutions for what concerns the rifles with rifles.
The market offers many non-toxic lead-free ammunition and for each caliber: costs, slightly higher than the classic cartridge, do not represent a problem for selection hunters, moreover, small Italian companies are specializing in this production. Galizzi underlined the valid results of the tests, not only in our country, without forgetting that there is no reason for doubts about less ability to lock game in place. The solution proposed by the provincial vice president is to investigate the problem with technical and scientific data, so that hunters are not subjected to impositions.
Galizzi's advice is different. First of all, the ethical code of a selection hunter should predict the periodic frequency of training at the range, the weapon calibration at 200 meters, hunting with a friend or a good teacher and experimenting with real shooting skills before trying those at long range. Finally, Federcaccia Bergamo welcomed the use of monolithic balls, able to open like a petal and not to disperse material in the carcass of the affected animal.
