Flavio Galizzi, number two of the Federcaccia of Bergamo and passionate naturalists of the Brembana Valley, intervened to talk about an article published a week ago by L'Eco di Bergamo. The piece was dedicated to the discovery of a downed eagle and in whose body it was present lots of lead. In the title, moreover, reference was made to the dots, a term that is misleading to say the least, also because not even one was found.
In short, the severe lead pollution was approached with hunting without any evidence, indirect support a who is hostile to the hunting world. Galizzi recalled how studies on lead poisoning of some birds of prey are still ongoing. During the winter season, the golden eagle is in trouble when it comes to searching for food in the Brembana Valley. It prefers hunted prey, but does not disdain the remains of dead animals.
Hunters have always given priority to environmental balance and the alpine ecosystem: the vice president of Federcaccia Bergamo underlined the decisive contribution of the hunting world as regards the return of the eagle in this Lombard valley. Alpine hunters, then, are more and more mature from an environmental point of view, as well demonstrated by the increasingly frequent choice of non-toxic balls for hunting.
