Il Prefect of Isernia was very clear in his speech, urged by the mayor of Citivanova del Sannio (precisely in the province of Molise) on the boar emergency. According to the Prefecture, in fact, only the Province can intervene for the management of ungulates that are boundless up to the inhabited centers, even though this local authority has no available staff and no weapons.
The wild are dangerously close to schools, homes and parks, a circumstance that prompted the mayor, Roberta Ciampittiello, to write to the Prefect. In the last few days a meeting has also taken place in Agnone which was promoted by the Molise Coldiretti to talk about wild boars. The regional levy plan provides that they are cut down a thousand copies and according to the mayor it is the same number as those present in his municipality.
The Prefecture referred to the recent sentence of the Regional Administrative Court of Liguria, according to which the provinces are the only ones entitled to intervene legitimately in the inhabited centers through their own police officers. The agents present in the Isernino are scarce, consequently the killing is complicated, without forgetting the absence of long guns, those suitable for selective hunting. The Molise self-control will start only in five months, probably in March.
