The Emilia Romagna Region approves the new regional hunting calendar which presents some innovations to comply as much as possible with the opinion of the ISPRA and the provisions of the Council.
The Emilian Regional Council approves the resolution containing the new regional hunting calendar with some innovations including the suspension of the hunting collection of the "moretta" species in order to avoid the risk for hunters of confusing it with the "ferruginous duck" which is instead part of the fauna protected.
With the new Hunting Calendar, Emilia Romagna is adapting to the recent sentence of the Constitutional Court, concerning a law of the Abruzzo Region, which clarified the obligation on the part of the Regions to adopt hunting calendars with administrative acts and not with laws; furthermore, the role of the Institute for Environmental Prevention and Research is confirmed, as the only technical-scientific body appointed to express opinions. The new hunting calendar will come into effect on the third Sunday of September and will end on January 31st.
Among the new features, the suspension, indicated by ISPRA, of the hunt for the "moretta" to prevent the risk of confusion with the "ferrugat" belonging to the protected fauna and considered in serious difficulty; the use of shotguns loaded with lead shot will be prohibited in both natural and artificial wetlands.
Measures to protect agricultural activity are increasing, while further containment measures are envisaged for ungulates for the effective achievement of the maximum density of animals in suitable rural areas. The return date of the summary sheet on the "hunting in derogation" has been unified with the delivery of the regional hunting card, therefore by 31 March.
The Regional Councilor for Agriculture and Hunting, Tiberio Rabboni, thus commented on the approval of the Hunting Calendar, “With this provision we acknowledge the Court's ruling, moreover reconfirming the contents of the previous draft law. Today's resolution entrusts the provinces with the issue of the individual provincial operational calendars".
