On the other hand, for the dove species, an overall regional game limit of 5.534 animals is envisaged for the entire 2023-2024 hunting season, including any pre-opening which will be established with a subsequent decree. The words of the commissioner
«The calendar – explain the Councilor for Agriculture, Giancarlo Righini and the regional councilor of Fratelli d'Italia, Enrico Tiero – was drawn up after a fruitful work of concertation with the regional wildlife hunting committee and subsequent Ispra opinion. We are fully satisfied with the result achieved because we were able to satisfy most of the requests expressed by the associations concerned. This is a big step forward compared to the past, in terms of transparency and concreteness. It is necessary to safeguard the peculiarities of hunters and their rural communities grappling above all with the proliferation of wild boars which, in addition to extensive damage to agriculture, are causing dangerous accidents, even fatal ones, on our arteries. The decree approved in this regard establishes a clear change of gear in the method and merits of the measures. The Rocca administration proves to be close to the demands of the hunting world and the needs of our territories".
A new decree is coming
Finally, in the coming days, a further decree will be issued regulating wild boar hunting, which will take into account the indications provided by Ispra and the government commissioner aimed at a greater and more effective fight against African swine fever (ASP). Finally, with a subsequent provision, hunting will be regulated for the Lazio side of the Abruzzo Lazio Molise National Park and for the Island of Ponza. To practice hunting, the hunter must have a hunting card, valid throughout the national territory. A specific card is required for the selection process (source: Lazio Region).
