Sentencing for Sardinia by the European Court of Justice
The sentence for Italy arrives. The European Court of Justice has condemned the Region of Sardinia for having granted derogations in a different way than that established by the Birds Directive.
The umpteenth confirmation of the "failure" of the Italian system of hunting exemptions, this is the comment of Lipu-Bird Life. According to the association, in fact, the Sardinia Region would have granted the exceptions without "having indicated the extent of the damage to crops that the birds (in this case cormorants) would have caused, but also without having considered the possible alternative solutions to their killing, as required by the community directive ".
The result - continues Lipu - “is a triple damage: to the crops, which if they are really damaged do not get any adequate response; to the fauna, which is illegitimately killed; and to the law, with repeated infringements and convictions of our country ".
