The list of municipalities in the Marche region has been extended by the Region where it will be possible to hunt in derogation of the starling during the current Hunting Season.
In fact, the resolution proposed by the Vice President and Councilor for Hunting and Agriculture of the Marche Region, Paolo Petrini, has been approved by the Regional Council, with which the number of municipalities in which hunting will be possible in derogation for the transfer is expanded.
This resolution is only the final phase of a series of interventions, put in place by the Council and the Legislative Assembly of the Marche, aimed at making it technically feasible to withdraw the canceled as part of a broader crop protection plan.
Petrini would like to point out that the decision was taken in full compliance with national and EU regulations as well as with the opinion of ISPRA and hopes for a further expansion of the number of municipalities involved in the levy in derogation against an estimate of the damage caused by the transfer to crops. .
In fact, the commissioner comments: “We have respected the commitments made with the hunters and with the damaged farmers and this in full compliance with the national and community regulations of the sector. Before deliberating on the enlargement of the number of municipalities in which the withdrawal of the transfer is allowed, we in fact obtained the favorable opinion of the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, to which we had represented our needs in detail. Moreover, the one adopted is not necessarily the last decision for the enlargement of the number of municipalities. With the arrival and presentation of certified data about the damage caused to crops, we will still have the opportunity to increase the territories admitted to the withdrawal by derogation ".
Finally, Petrini again says: “As highlighted by the Regional Wildlife Observatory, in collaboration with the University of Urbino in recent years the starling has caused serious damage to agricultural crops on a regional scale. This is demonstrated by the data transmitted by the Provinces and by the territorial hunting areas. In 2010, then, there was a further increase in damages with a strongly growing trend, probably also for the current year as the first data already transmitted suggest. Hence the need to expand the levy. Ispra sent us a favorable opinion yesterday and today we immediately intervened ”.
