In the afternoon, the "round table" moderated by Luca Patrignani (Radio Rai) was organized with the participation of the President Federcaccia Gianluca Dall'Olio, the President Libera Caccia Paolo Sparvoli, Andrea Trenti member of the ANUUM Executive Committee migratoristi, Fabio Lupi representative of Arci Caccia, Carlo Maltagliati of the CPE, of Montagnani of the CPA, of Riccardo Andreini of Coldiretti, of Sandro Orlandini of the CIA, of the Director of ISPRA Silvano Toso and finally of the Hon.Angelo Zucchi, Vice President of the Agriculture Commission of the Chamber and Gianni Salvatori, Councilor for the Tuscany Region.
The hunting and agricultural associations have underlined the importance of inserting the starling among the huntable species or at least among those that can be taken in derogation, both for the certified damage to agricultural production and for the value of traditional hunting for this species, considering that in all the other Mediterranean countries it is a normally huntable species.
The representatives of the hunters, farmers and institutions present at the various levels have signed a document of understanding addressed to the Prime Minister. After the signature of the Minister of Agricultural Policies (considering the favorable technical-scientific opinion of ISPRA, the certified damage to agriculture and the danger to health in cities, as well as the cultural importance of traditional hunting as it happens in other Member States of the 'EU), it is necessary to strongly support the legislative process at the European Commission for the reintroduction of the transfer in the list of huntable species in Italy from the next hunting season.
"A very important moment of sharing between the hunting, agricultural and institutional world to forcefully request the inclusion of the starling among the huntable species in Italy - underlines Andrea Trenti, ANUU Traditional Hunting Manager - certified damage to agricultural production together with the importance popular of traditional hunting must give hunters the possibility of collecting the starling as it happens in all other countries of the European Mediterranean ”.
"In February 2011, ISPRA finally declared that the conditions exist for the Starling to be hunted in Italy - concludes Trenti - and if we add that the species in question has already been hunted in France, Spain, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Portugal , Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria we strongly ask the national institutions to initiate the necessary actions at EU level to include the transfer among the huntable species by overcoming the derogation procedures of article 9 paragraph 1 letter a) and c) of 147/2009 / EEC).
