Hunting in Piedmont: the Piedmont TAR rejects the request for suspension of hunting by the animalists, therefore the Hunting Season opens next Sunday.
The Piedmont Regional Administrative Court has decided to reject the request for urgent precautionary measures regarding the opening of the Hunting Season, presented by the environmental associations of Lac, Pro Natura and Sos Gaia, which had already obtained a postponement to 30 September. The judges of the Regional Administrative Court have also postponed the evaluation of merit in the Council Chamber to next October 10th, therefore, on Sunday September 30th, Piedmontese hunters will be able to go hunting.
For the recurring associations "starting from September 30th there will be the go-ahead for the massacre of species that are at risk of extinction"; the president of Lac Piemonte, Roberto Piana, commented on the decision of the TAR, “For the Piedmontese wildlife this is feral news. For four species (moorhen, teal, lark and jay) the protection that lasted 24 years disappears and from October XNUMXst, hunting will also open to species of small alpine fauna (black grouse, ptarmigan, rock partridge, variable hare) now almost extinct ".
Continuing Piana he explained "is also reintroduced hunting with the half-silent and cruel bow that most of the time only injures the animals and condemns them to atrocious agonies, and the daily and annual meats are absurdly increased".
The president of Lac then continues critical stating, "Among the many new atrocities of the 2012-2013 Hunting Calendar, almost an incentive to poaching, we recall what we find prescribed regarding the annotation of the animals killed by hunters: the annotation must be made with a dot only at the end recovered ".
Piana then highlights “One positive note: the summer birds have fortunately already left our region. For everyone else it will be a tragedy. Starting next Sunday, an armed minority will plunder what remains of the wildlife ”.
Furthermore, according to the environmentalist, "without the Regional Wildlife Hunting Plan, with 6 provincial plans out of 8 expired, without the Regional Law repealed to prevent the popular vote last May, without the mandatory Incidence Assessment for the Natura 2000 Network areas (SIC and ZPS) the Giunta Sacchetto-Cota condemns the Piedmontese wildlife to massacres such as had not yet been seen ”.
Even the hunters express their dissent for the situation that has arisen and Federcaccia announces legal actions against the environmentalists, noting that the more than 30 thousand hunters have paid about 500 euros to be able to practice the hunting activity only for the hunting card and that the volume of business is around 70 million.
In fact, a press release from Federcaccia Piemonte reads, "The clash between Federcaccia Piemonte and Lega for the abolition of hunting, Pro Natura and the Foundation for Ecospirituality continues after the appeal that the three associations have notified to the Region, Alpine districts, territorial areas, wildlife-hunting and agritourism-hunting farms. Appeal that follows the resolution of 14 September by which the Region had taken note of the suspension of the Piedmontese TAR and allowed the reopening of wild boar hunting and selection on 15 September and other forms of hunting on 30 September ".
“Federcaccia, to protect the position of 30 thousand hunters present in the region (who spent an average of 500 euros for the hunting card alone), has decided to act legally in the appropriate places. For this reason, the lawyer Antonio Viglione di Mondovì was entrusted with an assignment, also to defend a system that generates a turnover of around 70 million euros per year ”.
The president of Federcaccia Piemonte, Bruno Morena, “We would not have wanted to go that far but given the gravity of the situation it was right to intervene. We are fed up, we have to defend the interest of the members who cannot satisfy their legitimate passion. We have given a mandate to one of our lawyers to protect us and support the Region to achieve the objectives set ".
Federcaccia's lawyer, the lawyer Antonio Viglione, said, "We will intervene in court in defense of the arguments of the Region that we believe to be well founded and we will set up a working group to collaborate with the institutions and create useful rules to prevent any may prohibit the exercise of a fully legitimate activity ".
