Hunting: Pistoia, changes to the regulation on the management of ungulates in the provincial territory approved by the Provincial Council.
In the session of the Provincial Council last Friday 27 February some changes were approved to the “Regulations for the management and collection of ungulates in the Province of Pistoia”. The Regulation, which represents the implementation phase of the provisions of the Provincial Wildlife Hunting Plan, was first approved in March 2014. The changes were made both to harmonize the text with the innovations introduced by the Tuscany Region in 2014, and to meet some management requests made by ATC Pistoia 16 and identified on the basis of a careful analysis of experience. accrued during the first year of validity. As regards the connection with regional legislation, it was essentially a matter of incorporating the selective levy into the regulation boar, a form of hunting not foreseen by the Region until now and identified by the same in the course of 2014.
The Province of Pistoia had already experimentally launched a similar shape in the unsuitable areas, with the sampling in a single form from the roof terrace with a rifled barrel weapon equipped with optics; with this modification the new modality is definitively implemented, which for our territory will exclusively concern the collection of wild boar in the Non Conservative Management Units identified by the Hunting Wildlife Plan, that is the areas not suited to ungulates. To start this levy in April, the specific provision of the Tuscany Region is now awaited, as last year.
The changes requested by ATC Pistoia 16, on the other hand, concern the technical updates, such as the height of the roof terrace for selective sampling at 1,50 m; the possibility of declaring, as is already the case for fixed stalking, the hunter's availability of the place for the roof terrace; a new identification of the sex and age classes of the wild boar, in line with what is indicated by ISPRA.
