Anti-poaching service: two hunters were denounced in a state of freedom by the forestry body of the State of Terni for having exercised their activity in a period of general prohibition and with unauthorized means as well as for having captured a wild specimen.
The two were stopped during a locality 'Rocca San Zenone by some agents recalled by the sound of a shot. The hunters were identified close to an iron cage inside which - according to the forest ranger - there was a specimen of wild boar still alive. The poachers were caught and surprised just as they reloaded the rifle to shoot the boar again, as the first shot was not successful.
The cage, two meters long, one meter high and 90 centimeters deep, specially made for capturing wildlife, was built with an iron frame hinged to the ground to prevent overturning.
The trap - again according to what was reported by the forestry - was provided with a guillotine closure, with a mechanism that guarantees the immediate lowering of the entrance gate as soon as the release device inside is solicited by the wild boar, attracted by corn seeds. and other food baits found inside the cage.
In addition to the rifle and cartridges, the foresters seized a rudimentary spear of almost two meters from the two hunters, handcrafted with a stick at the end of which a blade was attached. The animal, which was not injured, was released and the cage was confiscated.
