Hunting: Dynafelt Life Saving Jacket - The high-tech textile of Prato has created an 'armored' fabric that is more resistant than Kevlar: it is soft, light, but above all it protects against shot even from close up. Presented at Confindustria Toscana, it will be the super novelty of the next hunting season.
Florence - The hunting safety campaign reaches an important milestone thanks to the high technology of the Prato textile industry, which has created an 'armored' fabric with extraordinary life-saving performance.
Is called Dynafelt is much stronger than Kevlar (already 5 times stronger than steel) and has been successfully tested, resulting extremely protective even from shot cartridges fired at close range. It will be the big news of the 2011-2012 hunting season.
Dynafelt was presented to the press today, at the headquarters of Confindustria Toscana, by Roberto Fenzi, vice-president of the Industrial Union of Prato and CEO of the Lenzi Group, one of the most important in the Prato textile district, leader in the sector of unconventional fabrics, at which is due to the creation of the new fabric. With him the engineer Stefano Ricci, head of Lenzitecnologie, the sector of the group where Dynafelt was conceived and where it is now in production.
"Dynafelt”, Recalled Fenzi,“ is a special felt obtained with Dyneema polyethylene techno-fiber from the Dutch company DSM. Being soft and light, it allows the creation of specific clothing lines capable of drastically reducing the effects of hunting accidents. An innovation destined to break the trail of blood and controversy, which has always bothered the hunting world.
In Italy, the 22 dead and 74 injured in the 2010 hunting season are a terrible toll, also considering the lower number of hunters, today just over 700 compared to about 2 million years ago. Having witnessed the shooting tests, the president of Federcaccia Gianluca Dall'Olio, engaged in a fundamental campaign for safety, wanted Dynafelt at the recent EXA in Brescia, the international arms fair, hosting it in the Federation's stand where it aroused unanimous interest ”.
Using photos and videos, Ricci showed the results of the ballistic tests, thus describing the technical characteristics of Dynafelt: “The fiber adds extreme lightness to a very high molecular weight.
But the secret lies in the processing, in the method called 'needling' which progressively weaves the fibers to create an impassable jungle of material without resorting to chemical adhesives. The super coefficient of resistance to cutting and tearing allows many different applications: against explosions, for bulletproof vests, vehicle armor and even motorcycle clothing ".
The effectiveness of the fabric is documented by hundreds of firing tests with various types of 12-gauge shotguns. In particular, a Breda automatic with cylindrical barrel cm. 62,5, and a Benelli Special 80, barrel of cm. 65 and three-star choke. There are also two types of cartridges: RC Cartridge Camouflage with lead shots 8, e Steel Shot Flakes with steel shot 5.
As for the modalities, the Dynafelt samples (squares of 41 cm side 4 mm thick) were placed just 10 meters from the rifle, on a 'Roma-like' plasticine panel, the special material used to simulate the density of the human body and measure the trauma effect. 2 meters from the rifle a chronograph it also allowed to validate only shots that had speeds of at least 330 meters per second (about 1000 feet per second), ie cartridges in full efficiency.
Even in these conditions, deliberately to the limit, the results were exceptional. For every shot, none of the approximately 350-400 lead shots cartridge has passed the obstacle. Only a couple of steel 5s made it. Even the deformation of the plasticine did not go beyond 5-6 mm, on a normally accepted maximum of 40. The 10-meter tests even better: not a single ball pierced the felt and the trauma effect was even more reduced.
DynafeltFenzi added, it certainly cannot stop rifle bullets or bullet ammunition, but it can greatly reduce the casualties of normal shotgun shotguns, which is the vast majority of accidents. Padded with this super felt, jackets and hats are as comfortable and comfortable as traditional coats and headdresses.
However, they have one more weapon: they save life.
