Tomorrow the Sardinian hunters will protest in front of the Regional Department of the Environment, but already today the policy is moving to unblock the season stopped by the justice that has canceled the hunting calendar.
Several center-right advisers, the first signatory Ignazio Artizzu (Fli), presented a question asking to "remedy an obvious, sensational mistake made" against the hunters.
The promoters aim to regain the hunt by derogation in January and February, as happens throughout Europe, in particular for migratory species. The text: "Review the limits of the hunting calendar and extend the hunting period to February, as required by the European guidelines". This is the request contained in the question presented to the Councilor for the Environment, Giorgio Oppi.
In particular, the text questions the commissioner Oppi, who for tomorrow has called the meeting of the Regional Wildlife Committee, to know "whether it is in accordance with the European documents relating to Key concepts and the interpretative guide of the" Birds "Directive the solution adopted by the Regional Wildlife Committee in the session of 23 December 2011; how it intends to take steps to make sure that an evident, clamorous mistake made is remedied, which has determined the just and understandable irritation of the Sardinian hunting world, which has perceived the decisions adopted by the Committee as yet another penalty against a respectable activity and deserving of much greater attention by the Sardinian Region; how it intends to proceed to ensure that the Region of Sardinia finally has at its disposal a technical-scientific body that can produce the adequate documentation to be able to take in Sardinia, without depending on external bodies, all the decisions necessary for governance, management and development of the environmental, fauna and hunting heritage ".
Ignazio Artizzu and Edoardo Tocco (Pdl) recalled the economic contribution that the hunters give to Sardinia in terms of taxes paid: “about 10 million euros, not counting the induced - the two said -. Today the hunter spends about 100-150 euros for each day of hunting on cartridges, bars, lunches on the farm, in the care of dogs, in addition to the purchase of the necessary clothing and equipment, making the approximately 120 armories present on the island work " .
