Hunting in Tuscany: «The alarm coming from the territories is getting stronger. The Region must not stand by, but must intervene as soon as possible before illegality and poaching begin to spread ».
This was declared by the group leader of Più Toscana / Nuovo Center-right in the Region, Antonio Gambetta Vianna, who comments on the letter from the mayors of the Florentine and Sienese Chianti to the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (Ispra).
According to the exponent of the Nuovo Center Right, who is a member of the II Agriculture Commission, “the situation in Tuscany has really come to a standstill. On the one hand we have the predators that attack the farms, on the other the ungulates that devastate the farms. The Tuscany Region must take the situation in hand and prepare serious and lasting targeted interventions.
In the case of ungulates, before poaching and do-it-yourself justice is given, it would be good if the hunting period of selection under the strict control of the hunting guards. I would avoid giving everyone carte blanche because otherwise we would risk finding ourselves facing real abuses - concludes Gambetta Vianna -, but we need to encourage targeted interventions under the watchful eye of the guards ».
