The Council of State replies to a question on the subject by the deputy Patrizia Ramsauer
Stabilize the number of garments and do not reduce it. This is the aim of the ibex hunt permitted by the Canton and which this year, for the first time in decades, will also involve Valmaggia. The Council of State explains the details of the operation, responding to a question on the subject by the deputy Patrizia Ramsauer. In the Locarno area there are currently about 350 specimens: 250 in the Valmaggese area and another 100 in Verzasca.
Considering that the federal ordinance on the subject provides for the possibility of carrying out selective hunting when the number of ibex in a colony reaches at least 50 specimens, in Ticino in 2010 50 animals will be killed: 34 in Val di Blenio, 10 in Vallemaggia and 6 in the Verzasca Valley.
