Il Thurgau Canton is the first of all Switzerland which has decided to introduce a ban on the use of dogs for hunting badgers and foxes in their burrows. Swiss federal law provides for this type of hunting activity, without forgetting that some were planned in 2012 regulatory changes to improve and reinforce the various requirements. The novelty is the result of a request from the Swiss Animal Protection (PSA), even if it is not the first time that the ban has been called for.
The historical precedent dates back to 2010, while one was launched a few months ago initiative at the cantonal level. Now the Parliament has made its decision. There were not many objections, despite the fact that several hunters wanted to meet the deputies to persuade them to vote in a different way, complete with croissants and flyers. According to some hunters from the Swiss canton, however, burrow hunting is outdated and not very useful, so much the practice is always little more abandoned.
Public opinion and the solicitations of animal rights activists did the rest. The Canton of Thurgau is located in the northeastern part of the country and its capital is the city of Frauenfeld. The inhabitants speak mainly German and the whole territory (just under a thousand square kilometers) is traditionally divided into three hilly masses.
