January has practically come to an end and the date of 31st also means that it is coming to an end wild boar hunting in Liguria. A few weeks ago the Region had decided to grant an extension for this hunting sampling in the permitted areas, in order to reach the killing quotas that had been set by the Faunal Technical Commission last summer. The numbers are soon said: we are talking about more 8 thousand heads in the provinces of Savona and Genoa, another 4500 in the Imperia area and 3800 in the province of La Spezia.
The calendar was changed during construction: the wild boar hunt in Liguria began last September 20 and the initial deadline was scheduled for 20th December. The extension then made available other weeks just to reach the quotas already listed. The results in numerical terms were rather low last December 11: according to the commissioner Mai they were due to progressive movement of ungulates in the city, an urbanization of which there are concrete examples almost every day. The culls had amounted to just over 55% of the total, updates relating to the extension are now awaited.
