Parco del Salento: Ungulates - At the center of the meetings, the agreement with Federico II and the plan, which provides for the monitoring, capture and killing of ungulates.
SALERNO - Wild boar alarm in the Cilento Park: the president meets the mayors. This is what was established by the president of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, Amilcare Troiano, regarding the wild boar emergency, repeatedly complained by local farmers due to the serious damage it causes in the agricultural production sector.
Troiano has in fact decided to meet in the next few days, and in several stages, bodies and representatives of the Municipalities to deal with the emergency. At the center of the meetings, above all, the agreement with the Federico II University and the plan, approved by the Board of Directors and the Ministry of the Environment, which provides for the monitoring, capture and selective killing.
«This action plan - has Troiano affirmed - is the response of a park that wants to manage natural resources on the basis of conservation criteria and not to preserve the status quo through continuous prohibitions. The Park must take all the necessary decisions and promote actions that can no longer be postponed to reduce a redundant species that is damaging small and large farmers ”. «Finally - concluded Troiano - with this intervention the page is turned, the territory will be invested by initiatives at various levels, from the social to the environmental one. We are preparing to live a moment in which the collaboration of all and above all the love of each one for this territory will be necessary ». The first meeting is scheduled for February 9, when the president of the Park will meet the presidents of the mountain communities Alburni and Calore Salernitano together with the mayors of the respective districts. Then, on February 15th, the meeting with the mayors of Cilento will follow, and on February 17th, the one with the mayors of Vallo di Diano.
