Hunting in Piedmont: Gian Luca Vignale, with his own note, explains the novelties of the new hunting law.
The President of the Hunting and Fishing Commission of the Piedmont Regional Council, Gian Luca Vignale, with his own note, makes it known that the discussion on the new Law on Hunting in the Region has begun. Today, 7 March 2013 in the Third Commission for Hunting and Fishing of the Regional Council, the examination process - and we hope for quick approval - of the bill n.323 "First determinations on the bill relating to: Management, wildlife protection and programmed promotion of the Piedmontese rural territory ".
The document introduces legislation that is more attentive to the innovations introduced in European and national legislation and emphasizes the need to use hunting as an instrument for the protection and promotion of the territory. The aim of the text is also to enhance the concept of fauna as a public good - and not as a public problem, by providing for actions to collect wildlife, as well as a new and simpler discipline for the marketing of slaughtered animals. Through a more incisive control of the species, which also allows those who kill a wild boar to be able to sell its meat, the damage that every year weighs on the regional budget by about 5 million (three million euros per year to agriculture plus the approximately 2.000.000 euros / year resulting from road accidents).
“The merit of this text - declares Gian Luca Vignale, president of the Hunting Commission of the Regional Council - is the ability to be able to satisfy on the one hand the need of Piedmont to have regional legislation in line with that of other Italian regions and at the same time be able to respond to the requests of hunters and farmers, guarantee and protect agriculture and promote hunting as a real resource for the territory, rather than a problem ". “For this reason my wish - declares Gian Luca Vignale, president of the Hunting Commission of the Regional Council - is that the Regional Council undertakes to vote on the text before the opening of the next hunting season”.
