Yesterday, the Second Commission discussed the proposed changes to the regional law of Tuscany 3/94 on hunting. The regional councilor Roberto Salvini (mixed group), after several digs received by the animal rights counterpart, followed by his numerous interventions in defense of one balanced hunting management, wanted to clarify the social role and honor of hunters: a category oppressed by the excessive animal rights and its prejudices.
«A citizen who takes the firearms license, he has a clean criminal record, otherwise he would not be given - said Salvini - And instead he is hunted down and monitored continuously. The hunter finds himself living in a continuous police state. So we would like to be checked in the right measure. We have five entities that check us incessantly, including law enforcement and animal welfare associations for hunting control. We hunters go for a legal activity, which carries within it millennia of tradition and which contributes to the balance of the ecosystem; we often go to relax after a week of hard work.
We are not going to destroy the woods, nor to indiscriminately kill any living being, as the animalist vulgate that so dominates the media would like. But we find ourselves wasting time in constant checks and being treated like wanted, being checked five times a morning. From hunters we have become prey».
