Regional Council of the Toscana, Roberto Salvini (Mixed Group) intervened in the last few hours. Here are his words: “If we continue on this path, we will see more and more reduced spaces and hunting opportunities. The Tuscany Region is doing all sorts of things: in the wetlands they want to increase the extent of protection, see the Fucecchio marshes; there are already proposals to abolish live animals in cages, to the detriment of those who hunt with live calls; we take away the funds intended to increase the noble sedentary to divert them in all directions.
What is the hunt of the future for the Tuscans? Poaching? Or do they want to direct us all only towards the ungulates that are so harmful to agriculture? Hunting is fragmented into a thousand specializations linked to the territory in which we live, and each territory has its own tradition developed over centuries of life in balance with the environment. Along the coast the sea hunts, inside the hunt for waders and larks, on the first hills for thrushes, the noble sedentary and small game, on the mountains the parade, the passing currents and the hare, in the Maremma hunting with chicks, in the Lower Sienese the roe deer and the noble. And the list would still be very long, made up of endless local customs.
All this is identity and tradition that are slowly taking away from us. It is a tradition that has been transcribed in books, has crossed the borders of Tuscany and still remains, so much so that many hunters in Northern Italy have always the ambition to come and spend a hunting week here. Therefore the heavy limitations of the Region will have a negative impact also on the little hunting tourism left. I mean, I want to stop us from hunting. Next week we will be voting to change the regional law. I will be in the courtroom alongside the Tuscan hunters to defend them to the end ".
This is what they have already done in Sicily. With all the parks and other protected areas named in a thousand different ways, they left us nothing. First they forbade us the rock partridge, without even having made a census; they forbade us the hare; they closed the turtle dove for us; they postponed the opening to the quail in a shameful way; they anticipated the closure to thrushes and all migratory. In short, in Sicily, either you learn to run or you no longer go hunting. It is total crap
It is time we finished this hunt (I am a former hunter) I have been writing this since I realized the current situation of game in Italy. I'd just leave it for the wild boars.
On the other hand, I think that we hunters should not hunt wild boars, pigeons, otters, collared doves, etc. at least for three years.
We cannot be considered only when it suits us.
The blame is also great for the associations that have always made anyone do their convenience without ever arguing ... everything was fine. Even when the hunters exceeded more than 1 and a half million… we could even have a party with those numbers!
This is how we are now! Prohibitions, parks, oases and if we want to hunt they have filled us with reserves of paid hunts and tours abroad
This has been the policy of the last 40 years
THANK YOU
