Hunting: Sardinia, the regional councilor Biancareddu asks for the intervention of the competent ministries to "avoid disparities between Sardinian and Corsican hunters" penalizing the hunting world.
“Since the Sardinia - Corsica migratory route is the same, the disparity in the closing dates of the thrush hunt appears very evident. This unfair treatment between the hunters of the two neighboring regions causes a serious penalization of the Sardinian hunting world in the face of a paradoxical reward for Corsican hunters ”. So the commissioner Biancareddu. The disparity in the closing dates of hunting for some migratory species between Sardinia and Corsica is the problem - deeply felt by the Sardinian hunting world - on which the regional councilor for the defense of the environment, Andrea Biancareddu asked the ministries of the environment and forestry policies for a formal intervention, in anticipation of the elaboration of the 2013/2014 hunting calendar.
"Since the Sardinia - Corsica migratory route is the same, the disparity in the closing dates for thrush hunting is very evident. This unfair treatment between the hunters of the two neighboring regions causes a serious penalization of the Sardinian hunting world in the face of a paradoxical reward for Corsican hunters. And it ensures that an inconsistent and contradictory protection policy is perceived at European level, without however achieving the fundamental principle of protection of species governed by European legislation ”, writes the commissioner.
The commissioner Biancareddu, remembers that "A European infringement procedure was opened against the Region in 2004 (filed in 2012) for having authorized a few days of thrush hunting in February, despite the fact that in nearby Corsica the closure of these species has been established for years on 20 February". Therefore, concludes the representative of the Executive in the document, "in the awareness that the problem exposed requires a national and European investigation, the competent Ministries are asked to express an opinion on the question raised, or to interpret the need to revisit and interpret correctly and unambiguously the start dates of the Italian and French pre-nuptial migration, in particular in the Sardinia Corsica migratory route, in order to put an end to a clear difference in treatment between hunters in the European Union and to pursue the founding principle of supranational protection species.
The commissioner further urges the competent ministries to ensure that, pending the issue in the Ornis Commission and the necessary corrections to be approved at European level - hoping with the same urgency and determination with which the EU opens the infringement procedures - a meeting will be set up with the Regional Department of the Environment to investigate these issues.
