As announced by the Councilor for Agriculture of the Lombardy Region, Gianni Fava, the Council of Ministers has decided to challenge the regional law number 19 of last July 17. This is the text governing the wildlife-hunting management of wild boar and the recovery of injured ungulates. According to what has been learned, the decision was made because some hunting rules would have violated the exclusive jurisdiction of the state on the protection of the environment and the ecosystem.
Fava believes that in this way the Government is covering itself with ridicule, harming citizens and farmers to defend a "pathetic and anti-historical centralism". The same thing had happened for the otters, with the CdM contrary to the choices of the Lombardy Region. The commissioner now demands a detailed explanation to the citizens, who must be informed about methods of containment of wild boars and ungulates, in addition to the protection of agricultural crops and biodiversity.
The regional section of the Coldiretti he found the Government's decision incomprehensible. Despite the incidents and damage to the primary sector, the Cabinet decided to block a law it was trying to curb the invasion: the suspicion is that the choice is party-based, which would be even more serious.
