“Without urgent containment measures, there is a danger of disease transmission for animals and humans ". It is the warning of Coldiretti Aosta Valley after the recent survey, by the USL Prevention Department, of the Trichinella parasite in a culled wild boar while hunting: “This creates a worrying situation, argues the agricultural organization.
The president of Coldiretti VdA, Alessio Nicoletta, underlines: "If we recorded a growth of wild boars in our territory, as already reported by some members of the Lower Valley struggling with an increase in damage to crops, not only the environmental balance would be in danger, but also the health of citizens due to the spread of bacterial infectious diseases to humans ".
For the director of the association, Elio Gasco, "It is necessary that the Valle d'Aosta pay the utmost attention to the issue and implement all the necessary measures to limit the number of wild boars and to carry out greater checks to protect the health of all". Coldiretti recalls that the Trichinella parasite “is able to infest mammals, birds and reptiles and above all it can also affect humans and their pets ".
