During the three days of the fair, events ranging from publishing to culture to technical problems are scheduled, without forgetting scientific research and the enhancement of breeds thanks to the collaboration of the main hunting and cultural associations.
The highlight of the first day is the conference "Let's talk about woodcocks: satellite investigations to reveal the secrets of the Queen of the wood" which will be held in the conference room of the service center starting at 16 pm Alessandro Tedeschi, President of Amici di Scolopax, will illustrate the Scolopax Overland project with which some woodcocks were equipped with microtransmitters, to follow wandering and migration using refined satellite technology.
The Woodcock, a bird of great value, a true test of hunting skills for all hunters, is at the center of a scientific project Scolopax Overland, specially developed to study migratory routes not only in Italy but also at an international level.
The project will be presented tomorrow, Friday 8 June (16 pm in Carrara Fiere in the conference room of the service center, entrance number 5 from via Maestri del Marmo) during Mondo Caccia by Alessandro Tedeschi, President of Amici di Scolopax who collaborated in the definition and to the realization of Scolopax Overland with which some woodcocks were equipped with microtransmitters, to follow wandering and migration using a refined satellite technology.
“It was a challenging initiative in its realization and quite difficult in its representation - says Tedeschi - because it is a scientific research that has as its purpose the observation and study of the migration of woodcock through satellite radio telemetry”.
The all-Italian project is called Scolopax Overland (Murkerich Project) with a definition that takes note of the characteristics of this fascinating migratory bird that travels the length and breadth of the skies of our continent every year.
If the starting points and arrival areas of the woodcocks are known, the routes followed and any digressions are much less so: the satellite micro-transmitters will send impulses with which accurate maps of the movements will be drawn in short, as the responsible will be "Research trips into the mysteries of migration."
