Environment: Province active 1st course for "Voluntary Ecological Guards" of Capitanata.
The Province of Foggia, through the joint activity of the departments of Agricultural Resources-Hunting and Fishing, Environmental Resources and Professional Training, has activated the first course for 'Voluntary Ecological Guards' of Capitanata, as part of the Voluntary Supervision Service Ecological set up by the Puglia Region.
This is an important training opportunity for those who intend to operate in various capacities in the field of environmental protection, control and monitoring of the provincial territory.
Specifically, the course (whose participation will be completely free) aims to spread knowledge and respect for environmental values; to train skills aimed at collaboration with public institutions in the protection of the natural heritage and the environment; to acquire the skills necessary to carry out constant monitoring and control of the territory in order to prevent and ascertain environmental violations; to promote participation, under the coordination of the competent authorities, in interventions in the event of an environmental emergency. The voluntary service will be coordinated by the Provincial Wildlife Observatory.
The start of this important training course contributes on the one hand to a further qualification of the Province's environmental protection policies and on the other it is part of a line of activity that is already giving widely positive results.
The reference is to monitoring, aimed at ascertaining the consistency of the wildlife populations of wild boar, fallow deer, mouflon and deer, conducted in recent weeks within the 'Santa Tecla' farm in the countryside of the Municipality of Vieste by the Selecontrollori trained with the course set up by the Palazzo Dogana Authority.
The notice of admission and the forms relating to the course for 'Voluntary Ecological Guards' can be consulted and downloaded on the website www.provincia.foggia.it and the deadline for submitting applications to participate is 30 April 2011.
