The 8th edition of the “Tradition and Flavors: Anastasian Goat Festival” will be held in Sant'Anastasia (NA), from 30 November to 2 December 2012.
The Pro Loco Sant'Anastasia, with the patronage of the Municipality of Sant'Anastasia and the Vesuvius National Park, is organizing the eighth edition of the successful event from 30 November to 2 December: “Traditions and Flavors: Anastasian Kid's Festival”. The well-deserved fame attributed to the Anastasian kid has its roots in the ancient practice of transhumance, when shepherds from Abruzzo, Molise and Irpinia, in leading their cattle towards the sea during the winter period, used to stop in the Anastasian countryside, renowned both for the favorable geographical location on the slopes of Mount Somma both for the luxuriant vegetation of its lands.
Over time, the Anastasian shepherds have specialized in trade, breeding but, above all, in the slaughter of sheep and goats. In fact, the particular techniques used during slaughter, handed down from generation to generation, help to enhance the authenticity of the meat.
The past editions have always met with considerable success, thanks to the dedication of the organizers, but above all for the active participation of the public, exhibitors and not least the elementary school children who have always been involved in historical cultural projects dedicated to the rediscovery of traditions and of the territory.
Also this year a large number of visitors is expected at the special food stands to taste the kid cooked both on the grill and in the oven, as well as other local specialties such as offal, olives, sweets, breads ... all accompanied by an inevitable glass of Catalanesca.
The event is framed by themed debates, the drawing of the three lottery prizes linked to the event, pleasant musical and cabaret shows, a suggestive re-enactment of the productive activities of the past, guided visits to the Olivella springs in the Vesuvius National Park within the historical . The appointment is therefore set for November 30th, December 1st and 2nd 2012 in Piazza Cattaneo.
