End of late autumn hunting in Ticino. To take part, between November 20 and December 19, were 643 hunters. Result: 530 deer catches (322 young and 208 adult females), equal to 85% of the quota set, and 51 of roe deer, equal to 93%. This was communicated by the Department of the Territory. The hunters were entitled to the capture of young deer (males and females of 0,5 years and females of 1,5 years), and two adult females each. The catch quota for roe deer was set at two head per hunter (young or female).
This hunting activity in addition to the traditional September hunting, specifies the Department of the territory, is an indispensable tool for regulating deer populations which at the cantonal level, albeit with regional differences, have recorded a constant increase in recent years, with consequent damage above all to agricultural crops and the forest. In conjunction with the late autumn hunting of red deer and roe deer The winter boar hunt was also held, still in progress on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which will end on 23 January 2022 (Tio.ch).
